Homegrown talent Nate Mealor places 3rd in Soompi x JYP Rising Legends competition

19-year-old Melbourne talent Nate Mealor has come in 3rd place in the Dance category for the Soompi x JYP Entertainment Rising Legends competition. This worldwide audition event attracted over 5,000 entries from over 112 countries this year. It’s great to see an Aussie homegrown talent rank that high in the competition. Aussie pride! :)

There were 3 rounds of voting and the 1st place winners from each category – dance, rap, sing – all got personal interviews with JYP Entertainment.  Click here for the full list of Top 10 dancers.

Check out his amazing freestyle audition video:

According to his self-introduction, he’s only been dancing seriously for around 6 months and is a fan of dance crews such as Request, Kinjaz, Jabbawockeez and Poreotics [all the baes, also my favs]. He also likes Big Bang and old school Taeyang videos [yep, I like his style].

Fun fact: He’s auditioned for JYP before in New Zealand, flying from Melbourne to New Zealand with his dad for a shot at K-pop fame. He auditioned by dancing to ‘Thunder‘ by EXO. Check out this article for more about his previous experience at the NZ auditions.

Hope to see him continue progressing with his dance talent and get closer to his dream of becoming a K-pop star!
